Just moments ago President Donald Trump welcomed Aya Hijazi to the White House after the aide worker's release from 3 years detention in Egypt.

"We are very happy to have Aya back home," Trump told reporters gathered in the Oval Office.

Hijazi had been accused by Egyptian authorities of child abuse and human trafficking, charges largely believed to be bogus by human rights groups and international organizations. She was acquitted of the charges by an Egyptian court earlier this week, weeks after President Trump met with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi.

The Washington Post reports that her release, along with the release of 4 other aide workers, was negotiated by President Trump.
